My Play List

This is a small sample of music I’ve found that speaks to me. In most cases, I find songs that can bring me joy, hope, or peace. One of my favorite things to do is to request a specific song on Pandora and then let it lead me to new music.

A number of years ago, I also discovered a website called GodTube. They have daily newsletters that you can subscribe to, one of which is GodTube Music Videos. This is how I’ve found many of my new favorite artists including: Zach Williams, Crowder, Rhett Walker, We The Kingdom, and many others.

New music will be added on this page frequently with what I’ve found most recently posted on top. I will warn you that I grew up in the 70’s so I love my rock-n-roll as well as southern country. I hope you can find many songs you enjoy and that will bring you peace and hope. Don’t forget to turn up the volume.

Zach Williams has been my favorite artist for a while now. Amy and I have seen him numerous times in large venues, intimate stages, churches, and even a drive-in theater (that was one cool experience). I’ve linked a few of his songs below because, well, he’s my favorite and our stories are very similar.

Crowder is a long-haired southern rocker that touched my soul with “Somebody Prayed.” He is also an artist I recommend to see in concert if you like rock-n-roll.

A Mathew West song came on the radio on my way to work one day and it lifted my spirits and brightened my mood. I pray it can do the same for you.

Rhett Walker’sAll Joy No Stress” is just a good ol’ feel-good song. He’s also a great artist to plug into Pandora and just let it play.

Tracy Lawrence’s Up To Him” has a chorus that sings, “I’m gonna work like it’s all up to me and pray like it’s all up to Him.” This is my life. Everyday I do the work to keep me healthy, and all day long I pray to Him with thanks for blessings that allow me to live one more day.

We The Kingdom is a strong Christian rock group that writes great music and is also a treat to see live. “Cages” and “Holy Water” are just two in a long list of songs you’ll want to hear.

Toby Keith lost his battle with cancer this year but is still one of my favorites. We’re the same age and from the same part of the country, Boomer Sooner! One of Oklahoma’s all-time basketball greats, Wayman Tidsdale, was a good friend of Toby’s and passed away from cancer at a young age in 2009. Toby wrote this song “Cryin’ For Me” that I play often, just to remind myself that it’s ok for me to cry every now and then. (Wayman has a great story, and an even better smile, if you’ve got the time to Google him.)

Anne Wilson’sStrong” reminds me I can’t do it on my own. She’s a fairly new star that is putting out a lot of great music. I highly recommend her.

Bethel Music and Josh Baldwin teamed up on “Stand In Your Love.” The chorus is, “…my fear doesn’t stand in your love.” This is something I need to hear when the fear creeps in.

There are times when I’m reading about those that have it so much worse than I do and I wonder why I am so blessed. “Somebody Must Be Prayin’ For Me” by Tim McGraw just may answer that question.

This is not my usual genre of music, but Mandisa’s lyrics to “Shackles” hit home, and I must say, the beat is catchy.

Jeremy Camp puts words I need to hear to a rock and roll beat.
