From The Library

Here are some of the books I’ve found that are meaningful to me and have helped me in one way or another to deal with the mental and physical stress after an ALS diagnosis. Not all deal directly with Lou Gehrig’s disease. Some offer hope, some offer comfort, some are biographies, and some are just entertaining.

The Deanna Protocol®: Hope For ALS and other Neurological Conditions by Vincent M. Tedone M.D., Deanna Tedone-Gage and Chiara Tedone (Authors) is the first book I picked up after my diagnosis. I’m not endorsing the protocol but admit that I have been a believer in much of the information I read. And I am a subscriber of the supplement. The book can be a tough read, having to relive many of the hard doctor visits they’ve been through, and the science can be a bit daunting, but hope can be found here.

The ALS Puzzle Solved? A Theory of Why Two Harmless Off the Shelf Hormones Should Stop ALS in its Tracks! (ebook) by Jeff Bowles (Author)

The Tale of an ALS Reversal: A Terrifying & Insightful Journey by McFinn Lovere (Author). If you’re looking for a well-written book, this is not it. McFinn takes us through his journey after being diagnosed with ALS. You’ll find no scientific reasoning but at the very least it can be a bit entertaining. As Aresenio Hall used to put it…..things that make you go HMMMMM?

A Life Impossible: Living with ALS: Finding Peace and Wisdom Within a Fragile Existence by Steve Gleason and Jeff Duncan (Authors)

Fight Back With Joy, Celebrate more, regret less, stare down your greatest fears by Margaret Feinberg (Author) is written by a breast cancer survivor and details her determination to go through the long treatment and recovery process with joy. She details the hard road and her determination to not let cancer define who she was or how she wanted to live. I found a lot of inspiration in her story and highly recommend it.
